The new store, located at 3321 Stadium Drive; Suite B celebrated with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony at noon. Representatives of the Kalamazoo Chamber of Commerce participated in the event and helped cut the ceremonial red ribbon opening the store. The store gave away a flat screen television. Winner of the television was Celeste Stoneburner. The Cellular Connection is a retail store providing wireless communication technology, including Verizon Wireless services, cellular telephones and accessories, satellite television via DISH Network. The Cellular Connection has grown steadily over the past Sixteen years, and has become one of the larger retailers for Verizon Wireless in the Midwest. The Kalamazoo Store is the second store opened in Michigan following an opening of a new store in Lowell, Michigan. The Cellular Connection started in 1990, and is owned and operated by Moorehead Communications, headquartered in Marion, Indiana. The company currently operates more than 108 stores in Indiana, Ohio, Illinois including one store in Kentucky and 5 stores in Michigan.
